RM3.3 Million to Upgrade Pincer Studio a Collaboration Between PKNP Group and KRU Malaysia Sdn Bhd

April 17, 2016 – Ipoh, Perak – PKNP Group and KRU Malaysia Sdn Bhd has achieved a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to encourage the investment and enhance the industry creative content from local and entrepreneurs from all over the world. Through this collaboration, PKNP Group has agreed to rent the studio and equipment in the Perak Innovation Creative Resources Centre (PINCER) for 3 years to KRU Studios Sdn Bhd starting on June 2016. During the period, PKNP Group targeted over 300 animators from Perak state will be trained by KRU.

"PKNP will invest RM3.3 million for the cost of upgrading and repairing equipment in the studio to establish it as a Creative Content Studio. KRU which now operates in Cyberjaya, Selangor will move and run its operations in Bandar Meru Raya, Ipoh as the headquarters of animation content publishing and special visual effect on 1st May 2016. It is like "KRU going back to their hometown" because they originated from Perak and will support the activities of the Perak State Government to promote investment opportunities as well as to boost tourism and creative content from within and outside of the country, including providing support for the "Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) promotion", said Dato' Aminuddin Bin Md Desa, PKNP Group Chief Executive during the Outreach Programme of Bumiputera Fund Unit Opening Ceremony held at Stadium Indera Mulia in Ipoh, Perak.

According to Dato' Norman Abdul Halim, Executive President of KRU Group, "We are very passionate to conduct various activities in a way to support Perak state government to achieve the objectives in the development of creative industries and tourism. With over 24 years of experience in the industry and access to over 80 countries in the market, we hope to be a catalyst to the development of creative industries in Perak especially through training courses, create job and business opportunities for new entrepreneurs in Perak. We will also bring equipment worth RM10 million, in addition to publishing projects worth RM30 million in KRU Animation HQ, Bandar Meru Raya, Ipoh. We are thankful to the Perak state government especially to PKNP for the opportunities in this collaboration.”

In accordance with the plan of the Government of Malaysia to achieve the status of a high income economy, a culture of innovation and creativity, as well as improving skills and human capital quality local creative industry, this project aims to produce more skilled workers, particularly "animators" from among the people of Perak itself to be directly involved in this industry. In addition, the placement KRU Studio in Meru Raya Ipoh, it will be the "icon" which will be able to attract more investments and domestic and foreign into the country.
