ANTWERP, 11th October 2022 - Following the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (PoABI) visit in May. 19 2022 at Lumut Port, Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) has brought a mission of implementing a strategic plan to boost the maritime and logistics industry in the State of Perak to Belgium.

The delegation led by YBhg. Datuk Redza Rafiq Bin Abdul Razak, Chief Executive of PKNPk, and the senior management of Lumut Port have signed a cooperation agreement with PoABI to develop the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) in Manjung, Perak. The investment is approximately RM72 billion for the next 25 years. The agreement was signed in October. 11, 2022.

The establishment of LuMIC involves the development of an exclusive maritime zone in Perak that will provide tax and non-tax incentives for investors. A state development board will handle the development, operation, and governance of LuMIC under the PKNPk.

Soon, the LuMIC proposes to develop a multi-purpose terminal facility that meets the needs of industries in this hub, Perak State, and a gateway to the Asian region.

The development of LuMIC will open over 51,000 job opportunities for skilled workers and high-value jobs while strengthening other sectors, such as real estate, infrastructure, and tourism.
