LUMIC IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE MEETING NO. 1/2023

06 Mar 2023

IPOH, 6th March 2023 – The LuMIC Implementation Committee recently held its inaugural meeting, with the distinguished presence of YAB Dato' Seri Haji Saarani bin Mohamad, Menteri Besar of Perak. This marks a crucial step forward for the ambitious Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC) project, inspired by the EU delegation's visit to Lumut Port last year.

The LuMIC project aims to establish an Integrated Maritime Industrial Cluster in Manjung, which will create new economic opportunities and transform the city of Lumut into a modern, sustainable logistics hub. A strategic collaboration between the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (POABI), PKNPk, and Lumut Port has been established to achieve this vision.

The LuMIC Implementation Committee Council was established at the recent meeting to oversee the execution plan and ensure the project's success. YB Dato' Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Secretary of the State Government of Perak Darul Ridzuan, and YB Dato' Seri Ir Haji Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin, Chairman of the Perak State Infrastructure, Energy, Water, and Public Transport Committee, were also in attendance, underlining the high level of support for this transformative initiative.

Representatives from key government departments and agencies, including PKNPk, UPEN Perak, Perak State Land and Mines Office, Manjung District and Land Office, Manjung Municipal Council, Invest Perak, MIDA, and Lumut Port, were also present at the meeting. Their participation demonstrates the breadth of collaboration required to make this project successful.

Overall, the LuMIC project has the potential to revolutionize the economic landscape of Perak, and establishing the LuMIC Implementation Committee marks a critical milestone in its progress. The project's stakeholders are committed to ensuring that the development of LuMIC is sustainable and socially responsible and supports the broader goals of the state's economic development plan.
