MHB CHAMPIONING SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY IN PERAK

12 May 2023

IPOH, 12th May 2023 – Majuperak Holdings Berhad is the first Government-Linked Company (GLC) in Perak to join the United Nations worldwide Compact Network Malaysia - Brunei, a worldwide sustainability-related organization.

It is no exception for the Perak State on global concerns like climate change, which significantly affects the population. The temperature rise, the likelihood of rainfall, and the increase in the air pollution index (IPU), drive MHB to focus more on sustainability initiatives. Today, MHB presented a program called "MHB Championing Sustainability Journey in Perak" at the Hotel Casuarina @ Meru. During this program, Tn. Syed Agil bin Syed Hashim, the Chief Executive Officer of the MHB Group, and Mr. Faroze Nadar, the Executive Director, signed membership certificates on behalf of the MHB Group and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Network Malaysia & Brunei.

So far, MHB operated more than 520 Kilowatts of solar energy via their rooftop project at 3 Local Authority (PBT) sites and MHB's corporate headquarters. MHB is also to increase the installation of solar panels to generate energy amounting to 3.1 Megawatt around the state of Perak. By the end of 2023, MHB targeted it can generate 10,000 Kilowatts under this project.

MHB has taken these initiatives to respond to Pelan Perak Sejahtera 2030 in line with the State of Perak's commitment to sustainability and people's well-being. The collaboration between MHB and UNGC Malaysia-Brunei, USEM, and PBTs in Perak State is a highly commendable project.
