FOLLOW-UP VISIT BY BELGIAN SCRAP TERMINAL & SOENEN DELEGATION TO LuMIC

LUMUT, 29th OCTOBER 2025 – PKNPk, together with Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (PoABI) and LuMIC Development Sdn. Bhd. (LuMIC DevCo) received a courtesy visit from Belgian Scrap Terminal (BST) and Soenen, two leading European companies in the sustainable ship recycling industry.
The BST delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer Ms Caroline Craenhal, accompanied by Commercial Representative Mr Frederik Hollants, while Mr Stefaan Soenen represented Soenen. The visit followed earlier discussions aimed at exploring potential investments and strategic collaboration opportunities within Perak’s maritime industry.
The official programme began on 29 October 2025 with an official dinner attended by PKNPk Chief Strategy Officer Mr Norazha Ismail; LuMIC DevCo Chief Business Development Officer Mr Alex Staring; PoABI representative Mr Michiel Heleven; Avangaad Executive Director Dato’ Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin; Avangaad Chief Executive Officer Mr Nasrul Asni Muhammad Dain; and other senior management representatives.
The session served as a platform to strengthen strategic relations and discuss potential high-impact investments in the Lumut Maritime Industrial City (LuMIC).
On 30 October 2025, the BST and Soenen delegations were taken on a site visit to several strategic locations within LuMIC, where they were briefed on the area’s potential, current development progress, and future direction, aligned with the expansion plans of both companies.
This second visit underscores BST and Soenen’s continued confidence in LuMIC’s potential as a catalyst for green ship recycling activities in the Southeast Asian region. PKNPk and PoABI remain committed to supporting this aspiration by strengthening the state’s maritime industrial ecosystem and promoting sustainable, competitive investments in Perak.
